Actually, we didn’t hi-five, but did a bro-fist.
What tripped me out was every semi-athletic person I relayed this experience to had the same reaction: AWESOME. My dad, who used to run 5 miles a day in his youth. My brother, who got his certification in personal training. Another friend who works out. And the guy that inspired me to start running in the first place. All of them had the same response my buddy had.
So when it happened and I thought maybe it was a sign of weakness? Nope, just part of the experience of pushing yourself. I crossed a threshold that day.
